The Pre-Trial Diversion Program shows defendants that although a crime has been committed, through engaging in appropriate corrective activities, they can provide restitution and also work to change their life. Pre-Trial Diversion allows first-time, non-violent offenders an opportunity to rehabilitate themselves through participating in various corrective programs. Defendants must complete the program's activities.
The victim in the case must also agree to the defendant’s enrollment in Pre-Trial. Upon completion of the program defendants are eligible to have their case dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office. Successful program completion can result in the expungement of charges from the defendant’s record. Failure to complete the program will result in the continuation of charges and prosecution of the case.
