DEKALB DISTRICT ATTORNEY TO HOST INAUGURAL COMMUNITY FORUM AND RESOURCE FAIR FOCUSED ON DOMESTIC SEX TRAFFICKING

January 22, 2020

Decatur, Ga.
- In commemoration of National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month, DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston is hosting a community forum and resource fair, Towards the Light: A 20/20 View of Domestic Sex Trafficking, to raise awareness about this critical issue. The inaugural event will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Porter Sanford Performing Arts & Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Dr., Decatur, GA 30034. A Community Reception will be held from 5:30-6:15 p.m., with the program to follow from 6:30-8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

In 2018, Georgia had the seventh highest number of human trafficking cases in the nation, according to statistics from the National Human Trafficking Hotline. DA Boston is hoping this event raises awareness and inspires action to eradicate this growing epidemic.

The program will feature a keynote address, survivor accounts,  and panelists from the following organizations: DeKalb County Board of Health, DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, DeKalb County Police Department, DeKalb County School District, Department of Juvenile Justice, Georgia Cares, Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, and Street Grace. Resource information will be provided by law enforcement and social service agencies.

The event is hosted in partnership with Cash Krugler Fredericks and Dance 411.
