According to the United States Department of Justice:
- Every 2 minutes, a woman is sexually assaulted in the United States.
- Less than 1/3 of all rapes are ever reported.
- Approximately 68% of sexual assault victims knew their assailant.
- Approximately 28% of victims are assaulted by husbands or boyfriends, 35% by acquaintances, and 5% by other relatives.
- One in every four rapes occurs in a public area or parking garage.
- In 1/3 of all sexual assaults, the offender used a weapon.
- 75% of female victims require medical care after the attack.
- One in two rape victims is under age 18; one in six is under 12.
- Those with a household income under $7,500 were twice as likely as the general population to be victims of sexual assault.

The feelings associated with being raped can take a long time to get over. Allow yourself time to heal.
