March 14, 2022

State vs. Eddie Dubose

Decatur, Ga.
- DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announces a conviction by jury trial in the case against a Lithonia, Georgia man accused of sexually assaulting a young relative. Jurors returned guilty verdicts last Thursday against 56-year-old Eddie Dubose on charges of Aggravated Sexual Battery and Child Molestation.

The charges against Dubose date back to August 2016 when the female victim, then 13-years-old, was staying with her mother at the Defendant’s Lithonia home for a family reunion. Defendant Dubose assaulted the victim while others in the house were asleep. Two days later, the victim disclosed the assault to her mother, who immediately reported the incident to the DeKalb County Police Department. The investigation revealed that Defendant Dubose had also molested the child two months prior.

Following his conviction, DeKalb Superior Court Judge Stacey Hydrick sentenced Defendant Dubose to life in prison, plus 20 years. 19 of those additional 20 years will be served in custody, with the balance on probation.

The case, assigned to the District Attorney’s Sexual Exploitation and Crimes Against Children (SECAC) Unit, was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Tabitha Pazmino, with assistance from Senior ADA Parker Aziz, DA Investigator Kendall Ham and Victim Advocate Nzinga Hurey. Detective A. Tirado of the DeKalb County Police Department led the initial investigation.
