Anti-Corruption Unit

Led by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Steve Ruth, the Anti-Corruption Unit focuses on prosecuting complex criminal cases.

The Unit is comprised of experienced attorneys, investigators and paralegals who have extensive knowledge in handling complex criminal and civil cases. They focus their efforts on prosecuting individuals who hold a position of public trust with the government, which is either elected or non-elected, at the time when they are alleged to have  breached their oath of office by committing various nonviolent misdemeanor and/or felony offenses. 

Additionally, the unit pursues prosecution  against those individuals who use fraudulent business practices or a position of authority to deceive citizens and illegally take their money through complex financial schemes which were either exercised or controlled in DeKalb County.

Losses are generally over $100,000.00 and crimes include violation of oath of office, false statement(s), forgery, identity theft,  mortgage and other types of fraud and embezzlement.
